Afterimage seeks photographic works for “Inklight”

Submit images to “Inklight,” a meeting place of photography and creative writing published on the web site of Afterimage, the Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism published at Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York. For this unique project, photographers submit original work, which is selected to be posted on the Afterimage web site. Writers then submit original creative writing inspired by one of the images on the web site (engaging in the process of ekphrasis).

TO SUBMIT:

Submit ONE image with “Inklight Image” in the subject line. Please send your image as a .jpg file sized to 72dpi and 600px on the image’s longest side. Include in your email the title of the work and your name as you wish it to appear. Forward Thinking Museum ongoing Juried Photography Contest

Submit three not previously published photographs that exemplify “forward thinking,” along with a short artist statement (or tell your friends about this opportunity). Each quarterly winner will receive $1000, a solo show, and a chance to win the JGS Annual Artist Award in the amount of $5,000. Runners-up are presented with fine art books and will see their submitted photographs presented on our site.

POSITION TITLE: Intern (1 opening)

LOCATION: Sam Rayburn House Museum, 890 W. State Hwy 56, Bonham, Texas.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Interns may work on one or more of the following projects: packing and storing artifacts; cataloging and researching the museum collection; taking digital photographs of artifacts; re-housing and cleaning artifacts; data entry of collections records; developing events and programming at the site as well as developing themed guided tours and presentations; and organizing site resources.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Interest in museums, history, and/or education. Strong writing, research and communications skills. Strong organizational, multitasking and people skills. Knowledge of American and Texas history. Knowledge of standard office computer skills, including database software and word processing. Ability to work independently and on detailed tasks. Degree or expected degree in history, education, museum studies, humanities or a related field. Demonstrated interest in museum programs, education and/or history.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (negotiable)

PROJECT SUPERVISOR: Anne Ruppert, Curator, Sam Rayburn House Museum

TERM OF POSITION: Preferably June–August 2014 (negotiable)

Graduation Photographer needed

Position Description:

GradImages specializes in Graduation Photography and we are hiring photographers in your area. This is an excellent opportunity to earn extra income, work with great teams doing event photography and networking with other photographers.

Position Requirements:

You will be asked to attend a required training as the last step in our interview process prior to the first event of the season. This is a seasonal position during the spring graduation season of May/June.

Candidates must have good communication, teamwork and organizational skills. Experience or strong interest in photography is a plus. A business suit or dark colored pantsuit is required to wear to all events. The ability to stand for four hours at a time is necessity as well as having a car/reliable transportation and prior DSLR experience. All photographers start at $60/event, with mileage reimbursement of $.51/mile.
