Congratulations to Texas Woman’s University Professor in Photography and Book Arts, Susan kae Grant, for having her work included in the book, Word and Image: Art, Books and Design from the National Art Library, published by V&A Publishing. The book coincided with the exhibition titled, Inspiration by Design: Word and Image from the Victoria and Albert Museum, which is on display March – June 2015, at the Keith Murdoch Gallery, in the State Library Victoria, in Melbourne, Australia.

Susan kae Grant received an MFA in Photography and Book Arts in 1979 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since 1975 she has produced 13 limited edition handmade books. Her most recent book, “Shadowed Memory” was created during a 2005 residency at Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester New York. She taught at Wayne State University from 1979-1981 and joined the faculty at Texas Womanʼs University in 1981 where she is currently Professor and Head of the Photography area. She is on the staff of the International Center of Photography where she teaches bookmaking workshops. In 2003 and 2005 she was the recipient of the Society for Photographic Education “Freestyle Crystal Apple Award” and “The Excellence in Photographic Teaching Award” in 2004 from the Santa Fe Center for Photography.

Congratulations to Texas Woman’s University Professor in Photography and Book Arts, Susan kae Grant, for having her Night Journey series included in a five person exhibition titled, Memory, at See+Gallery in Shanghai, China. The exhibition also includes Carlos Sebastia, Huang Xiaoliang, Jonah Calinawan and Wendy Sacks. The exhibition runs from June 6th – July 11, 2015.

This is a group exhibit exploring themes related to the landscape, history, materiality, time and space. Each of the artists is studying photography at Texas Woman’s University. The opening reception will be held Friday, May 8th at 7 pm at Audacity Brew House in Denton. All are welcome.

Congratulations to Michele D. Poindexter for having two of her photographs selected for the Feature Shoot online exhibition on the theme of identical twins. Judged by Keren Sachs, Director of Content Development for Offset, a new collection of high-end stock photography and illustration from artist around the globe, the images chosen for this show capture the essence of twinness, of an unspoken bond that many wish for and few actually get to experience.

TPS 24: The International Competition | Heather Ross

Congratulations to Heather Ross for having her artwork, Parallel Universe, selected by Dr. David Coleman, Director of the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, for the  TPS 24: The International Competition. 

The exhibition will hang at the Wittliff Galleries at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, from June 1 – July 25, 2015. A public reception with the juror will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

TPS 24 will also travel to the San Antonio Public Library during FotoSeptiembre in the fall, followed by The Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene.

Deedra received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011, from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. She is currently working toward a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts with a Photography Concentration and Intermedia Secondary Concentration at Texas Woman’s University.

2nd Place Prize, Photographer’s Forum Magazine | Michele D. Poindexter

Congratulations to Michele D. Poindexter for being award the 2nd Place Prize in the Photographer’s Forum Magazine’s 35th Annual College and High School Photography Contest. Her work will be published with a solo 9×12 page in the College and High School 2015 Photo Book and published in May 2015’s edition of the Photographer’s Forum Magazine. This prestigious award also offers a 1000 dollar grant and a place in the permanent collection of the Nikon Hall of Fame.
