EXHIBIT INFORMATION 

There is no entry fee each registered participant can upload a maximum of one photos per person. (see “How to Enter” below). Entries must be submitted no later than February 24, 2014

The Exhibit will be online as a Virtual Exhibit at the Women in Focus website. Entries are submitted electronically in the prescribed format (size, profile, color depth, file type). There will be a top 10 selection by the president of Women in Focus and those will be displayed at the top of the Virtual Exhibit.

Renaissance Photography Prize

The Competition

The Renaissance Photography Prize is an international competition that showcases outstanding photography from emerging or established photographers.

All the profit raised from entries is donated to support younger women with breast cancer.

Entering gives photographers the chance to have their work judged by some of the most influential photography critics in the industry as well as being exhibited in a top London gallery.

There are over £6,000 worth of prizes to be won, alongside valuable publishing opportunities and international exposure.

Photographers can enter single images and/or series of work. The competition is open to everyone and welcomes entries from all countries.

All entrants receive 20% discount on digital C type printing from Metro Imaging, valid until the competition deadline.

30% discount on all entry fees if submitted by 28 February 2014.

Black and White International Call

THEME | Black & White

All Black and White imagery is eligible for submission. This includes alternative process, traditional, digital, toned black and white images, and all post-production techniques. All subject matter is welcome.

 

JUROR | Jason Landry

Jason Landry is a writer, photography collector and owner of Panopticon Gallery in Boston. Landry earned his B.F.A. in Photography at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and an M.F.A. in Visual Arts from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. In 2013 he accepted the position of Director of the MFA in Photography program at the New Hampshire Institute of Art, his book, Instant Connections: Essay and Interviews on Photography was published, and he started blogging for the Huffington Post.

SPESC Scholarship for Student Members

SPE South Central invites applications for scholarships to support student attendance at the 2014 SPE
National Conference in Baltimore, March 6-9.

PURPOSE: SPESC region encourages participation in SPE conferences to introduce talented students to
the dynamic culture and programs of SPE. By defraying travel expenses of attendance, SPESC invites a
broad regional audience of qualified students to participate in the activities and values of our organization.

QUALIFICATIONS: SPESC seeks current student members of our SPE region who can articulately
demonstrate his or her intent to travel to the conference. Preference is given to students who provide
examples of extra-curricular activities within a photography program, SPE, or other relevant group or activity.
Winners must be in attendance at the conference to receive the award.

INSTRUCTIONS: Please follow the guidelines exactly so that application is not disqualified:

1. Formal letter of application. Letter should detail level of education, involvement with SPE or related
activities, and brief description of artwork. Student should also illustrate reasons why he or she
should be selected for the scholarship.

2. Please create a single pdf file that contains:

  •   The letter of application.
  • Faculty reference information (name, title, phone, and email of a faculty member).
  • A direct link to one Image Gallery on your spenational.org profile.
  1.   You will need to be a current member to create and link to a gallery.
  2. The URL in your application should link directly to the gallery.
  3. Applications that do not link directly to an SPE Member Gallery will not be considered.
  • Label PDF file as Lastname_Firstname_spesc_spring2014.pdf.

DECISION: Scholarship winners will be notified of their status on or before February 15. Scholarship winners
will be presented with their check at the regional business meeting during the conference. Therefore,
winners must register for the conference and arrange travel and accommodations themselves. It is strongly
recommended that applicants register for the conference immediately since it will probably sell out.

The Center for Photography at Woodstock Call

Now accepting applications for Photography Now 2014,  the Center for Photography at Woodstock’s annual call for entries. Eight to ten photographers will be selected to be featured in the group exhibition in CPW’s gallery from April 5 – June 15, 2014.

Women’s Studio Workshop Residencies and Interships

Studio Workspace Residency (Due Feb. 15)
This opportunity is designed for artists working in any of the WSW studios. Artists may apply for four- to six-week sessions between September and June.

Art-in-Education Workspace Residency (Due Feb. 15)
Share your expertise in intaglio, silkscreen or hand papermaking with students from the Kingston School District for three weeks, then in turn get five weeks of personal studio time.

Chili Bowl Workspace Residency (Due Feb. 15)
WSW offers a limited number of special fellowships to ceramicists who make bowls for the annual WSW Chili Bowl Fiesta in exchange for reduced fellowship fees.

Studio Internship (Due March 15)
Studio interns work with WSW staff on projects including papermaking, letterpress, book arts, and printmaking. In addition to assisting with the on-going operations of the facility, interns assist WSW’s Artists-in-Residence with their projects and work with artist-educators in the Art-in-Education program.

Arts Administration Internship (Due March 15)
This internship is for people considering a career in arts administration. You will work alongside WSW’s administrative staff attending to the myriad of details that keep an arts organization functioning smoothly. Projects include database management, answering the phone, sending out e-communications, and event planning assistance.

Summer Internship (Due March 15)
This 2 month internship runs throughout the duration of our Summer Art Institute (SAI) Workshops. Tasks include planning & preparing vegetarian lunches for Summer Arts Institute participants; planting, maintaining, and harvesting papermaking fibers, vegetables, and herbs on our ArtFarm; cleaning and general maintenance.

Future Generations Art Prize

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the Pinchuk Art Centre open the Application Procedure for the third edition of the Future Generation Art Prize 2014. Young artists up to 35 wherever they live and work can apply starting from January 13 till April 12, 2014 at the competition’s website.
