Call for Entry | 6th Annual Armstrong National 2-D Competition Exhibition
Deadline: October 20, 2016 MINDNIGHT
Throwback:3rd Annual Armstrong National 2D Exhibition Winner
FIRST PLACE, CHRIS VALLE, Tampa, Florida
Packaged Series: Tatt
Oil Painting, 15″ x 30″, 2014
Judge’s Comment
This captivating painting is remarkable both for its adeptly rendered surface and for the disturbing ambiguity of the subject. The realistic nature of the plastic is stunning, from the condensation by the figure’s mouth to the areas on her cheek and chest where the plastic adheres to skin. The work raises more questions than it answers, leading the viewer to wonder about the identity of the figure and whether she is alive or dead.
